WEST MILLGROVE - With $1,806,400 in grants and $600,500 in mostly low interest loans, the village of West Millgrove will soon have a public sewer system. "The village has waited many years for this," said Jerry Greiner, executive director of the Northwestern Water and Sewer District. "The village is currently under EPA orders." No one knows this better than West Millgrove Mayor Ann Schreiner. "We are excited for the project to begin as it will remedy the many septic problems that the village is having with old septic systems," she said The district's finance director, Dave Cook outlined the funding as such: • $571,400 in a CDBG competitive grant. • $1,235,000 in Ohio EPA Principal Forgiveness Funds. • $600,500 in an Ohio EPA zero percent loan. • $160,000 in an Ohio Water Development Authority Loan. "This financing package provides an excellent affordable package for the sewer users of West Millgrove and adjacent users along the route of Bradner Road, near Bays Road," Cook said.
Construction bids were recently received and the apparent low bidder was Underground Utilities Inc., whose bid was less than the estimate. The probable start date for construction will be late summer or early fall.
