WALBRIDGE - To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first council meeting in the village, there will be a special council meeting on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Following the council meeting at the VFW, there will be a historical slide show with narration and refreshments following the presentation. Along with a memorabilia display there will also be centennial memorabilia on sale for purchase. They include alumni books, from years 1911-2012, and T-shirts.
The Walbridge Centennial Committee is sponsoring the program.
All of Walbridge's elected officials have been invited. Also expected to attend are the Wood County Commissioners, Lake Township Trustees, Sen. Rob Portman (a representative from Sen. Rob Portman's office), Ohio Sen. Randy Gardner and Ohio Rep. Tim Brown.
This summer, the centennial committee is planning a three-day street festival.
