Voters approve levies, support Herringshaw

Wood County voters were generous at the polls Tuesday — passing every tax issue on the ballot.
Rossford voters approved four levies by large margins. Two were for the city’s recreation program and two
for the fire department.
And Wood County Commissioner Doris Herringshaw handily won the only contested primary race among county
officials, securing almost 73 percent of the votes cast.
Following is a list of the unofficial election results from Tuesday:
Wood County Commissioner – Republican (term commencing Jan. 1, 2015).
• Doris Herringshaw, Bowling Green: 3,663 (72.87 percent).
• Kristi Kennelly, Perrysburg: 458 (9.11 percent).
• James Matuszak, Perrysburg: 906 (18.02 percent).
Municipal Issues
City of Rossford
• 0.4-mill replacement tax levy for recreational purposes. Yes: 479 (68.53 percent), No: 220 (31.47
percent).
• 0.4-mill replacement tax levy for the construction or acquisition of improvements for recreational
purposes. Yes: 439 (64.18 percent), No: 245 (35.82 percent).
• 1-mill renewal tax levy for the purpose of providing and maintaining fire apparatus, appliances,
buildings, or sites for fire protection operations, including payment of firefighting personnel. Yes:
498 (70.24 percent), No: 211 (29.76 percent).
• 0.6-mill renewal tax levy for the purpose of providing and maintaining fire apparatus, appliances,
buildings or site. Yes: 515 (72.74 percent), No: 193 (27.26 percent).
Townships
• Montgomery Township – 1-mill renewal tax levy for road improvements. Yes: 241 (67.89 percent), No: 114
(32.11 percent).
• Portage Township (excluding the villages of Portage and Jerry City) – 1-mill additional tax levy for
general construction, reconstruction, resurfacing and repair of streets, roads and bridges. Yes: 64
(51.2 percent), No: 61 (48.8 percent).
Other Issues
• Northwest Wood Ambulance District – 4-mill replacement tax levy, providing ambulance service and
emergency medical services. Yes: 223 (71.7 percent), No: 88 (28.3 percent).
• Precinct 20: Local Option Uptown Downtown – Sunday sales of wine, mixed beverages and liquor. Yes: 34
(56.67 percent), No: 26 (43.33 percent).
• Precinct 104: Local Option WalMart Supercenter, Bowling Green – Sunday sales of wine, mixed beverages.
Yes: 57 (45.24 percent), No: 69 (54.76 percent).
