The Junior Fair Building was decorated to resemble a glamorous runway on Monday night as the Wood County 4-H used the theme, "The Golden Thimble Awards," for its 2011 Style Revue and Honor Court presentation.
The presenters were all decked out including feather boas to add to the atmosphere. However, the main focus for the style revue was the showcasing of countless hours of hard work and dedication by young 4-H members in the clothing department.
Many of the presenters were showing off their first 4-H project; while other veteran members displayed creations worthy of real red carpet treatment.
While the projects were dominated by the feminine influence in 4-H, many of they guys also assisted with announcing the creations.
Parents and other family, joined a variety of friends to witness the various creations, including many made by the 4-H members as young as 8.
Those in attendance often chuckled out loud as some of the models added flair and drama to their posing and walking as they showcased their creations.
The descriptions of the creations were intentionally written to resemble commentary of an outfit as a star walks down the red carpet or a model walks a runway.
In addition to the rosettes awarded for the creation, special modeling awards were also presented to the top models in each class.

4-H Style Review participants Jessie Griffith and Elly Schnitker of wait their turn to walk the stage for the Accessories for Teens and Creative Costumes category.
Two of the categories did not involve actual sewing, but rather coordinating an outfit on a budget. Frugal Fashion and Shopping Savvy are projects designed to create a great look on a small budget. One presenter spent a grand total of $2.50 on a complete outfit, including accessories, as she shopped at garage sales and thrift stores, picking up items for free or 50 cents. At the other end of the spectrum, several 4-Hers showed off their talents in creating a Dress-up Outfit as well as Clothing for Your Career.
During the intermission, Doris Herringshaw, a 37-year veteran with the OSU Extension office, was recognized for her service. She has recently announced her retirement. Those in attendance gave her a standing ovation.
She expressed her gratitude and shared how much she loved the various aspects of her career in Extension.
In addition, a lengthy parade of quilts were showcased from the You Can Quilt project and the 4-H Quilters club. Many of the quilts will be donated to the Neo-Natal unit at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Toledo.
Also during the intermission, the 4-H office recognized the 2011 Honor Court.
