PERRYSBURG - The Wood County Park District will hold a series of town hall meetings this spring as part of its strategic planning process.
The meetings, announced at Tuesday's regular meeting, will allow the district to gain feedback from the public as the planning process continues. The parks last underwent strategic planing in 2007.
The meetings, all of which are to begin at 6:30 p.m., will be held:
• April 3 at the W. W. Knight Nature Preserve's Friends Green Room, Perrysburg.
• April 11  at Otsego Park's Thompson Stone Hall, Bowling Green.
• April 15 at the North Baltimore Public Library.
• May 1 at the Pemberville Public Library.
• May 9 at the Rossford Public Library.
• May 15 at Park District Headquarters, Bowling Green.
• May 23 at the Lake Township Hall, Millbury.
• May 29 at the Bradner Preserve's newly acquired property, Bradner.
• June 6 at the Wood County District Public Library, Bowling Green.
In further business at Tuesday's meeting, the park board:
• Approved an annual participation resolution with the ODOT Roadway Fund for 2014-2015.
• Approved trial permission for a vendor to sell food and concessions at the Buttonwood/Betty C. Black Recreation Area on Hull Prairie Road, Perrysburg, during the walleye and white bass runs on the Maumee River. Board Chair Bob Callecod requested that a policy be developed governing such vendors in subsequent years, if the practice proves popular.
• Approved the approximately $26,000 purchase of playground equipment to be installed at Otsego Park.
• Approved the $4,980 purchase of video security equipment for the Reuthinger Preserve, Northwood.
• Heard that the park district is hiring a new ranger to fill a post vacated by a leaving ranger, and that they are also hiring to fill a part-time administrative assistant position.
• Discussed a suggestion from member John Calderonello regarding insulating the Otsego Stone Hall to save on energy costs.
• Noted that there is a vacancy on the Park Board of Commissioners. Member Frank McLaughlin was required to leave the board after he accepted a seat on the Wood County Board of Health. Callecod indicated his belief that the seat would be filled soon.
• Went into executive session for the purpose of discussing land matters.
