The Kroger Company is making some moves in Wood County.
Earlier this month, Kroger bought the Bowling Green shopping center at 1094 N. Main St. where it
currently has a store.
The site was purchased for approximately $7.98 million from Bee Gee Center LLC.
On Wednesday, Kroger spokesperson Beth Wilkin confirmed the sale, saying "we do plan at some point
to expand our store, but we don’t have any definite plans, no timeline exists."
She said Kroger would not make a move toward expanding the property this year.
There also appear to be plans for the construction of an expanded Kroger store along U.S. 20 near
Perrysburg.
A preliminary site plan provided to the Sentinel-Tribune by Perrysburg shows a new Kroger on the site
that would encompass more than 123,662 square feet.
If the plan goes forward, the construction would reportedly involve demolishing a nearby vacant Kmart
store, building the new Kroger, and then demolishing the former store.
Wilkin could not confirm the specifics of the plan because they are not finalized, but said Kroger is
working on a "multi-step due diligence process."
"We’re always looking for a better way to serve our customers," she said.
