PERRYSBURG — Four men, including a Rossford resident, were arrested early Friday following a rash of thefts targeting Mitt Romney campaign signs in Perrysburg.
Christopher Monaghan, 41, Rossford; and Toledoans Corey Beaubian, 37, Sean Bresler, 33, and John Russell, 39, were all arrested and issued a summons for receiving stolen property, a first-degree misdemeanor, just after 12:30 a.m. in the 11100 block of Fremont Pike, near the Interstate 75 ramp, according to an initial police report.
The Associated Press reports that the signs were located in a truck belonging to Sheet Metal Workers International Union Local 33 of Parma.
The police report indicated that “several reports were taken of political signs being stolen in the City of Perrysburg.”
Signs had been reported taken largely from residential yards near the downtown since Oct. 19. Thefts were reported in the 500 block of East Indiana Avenue, the 900 block of West Boundary Street, the area of West Boundary Street near Grogan Drive, and the 400 block of Front Street. A sign was also reported taken in the 26600 block of North Dixie Highway.
Political signs have been reported stolen from locales in the city on multiple occasions within the past few weeks. Information as to the number of signs taken was not available this morning.
A call for comment placed with Perrysburg Police Deputy Chief Mike Gilmore was not immediately returned.
