Food drive challenge is issued

Leadership BG, a Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce program, has announced the kickoff of "The Best Class Ever - Food Drive Challenge."
The food drive will collect donations from now through June 8.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Leadership BG, the current class is challenging each previous class to see which is "The Best Class Ever!"
Food and cash donations raised from this year's challenge will benefit the BG Christian Food Pantry, which serves more than 3,000 men, women and children every year.
The "current class" of future Leadership BG programs will select the recipients of what is expected to be an annual challenge.
All Leadership BG alumni, current class members and Leadership BG high school members will be contacted and encouraged to make personal donations and collect donations from their friends.
The Kellermeyer Company, 475 W. Woodland Circle, will serve as the collection site. A weighing station will be set up for each class. The pounds of food collected will be totaled along with cash points ($1 equals 2 points). For instance, 25 pounds of food plus $25 ($1 equals 2 points) equals 75 points.
The donations will be tallied for each class year during the next two months. The class with the highest total of pounds of food plus cash wins.
Acceptable donations include:
• Food donations: non-perishable food items within the expiration date on the packaging.
• Paper products and hygiene items: toothpaste, soap, laundry detergent, diapers, and paper products (toilet paper and paper towels).
Checks are to be made payable to BG Christian Food Pantry, P.O. Box 84, Bowling Green, OH 43402.
The three food and cash drop-off dates will be:
• May 15, from 5 to 7 p.m.
• May 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• June 8, from 8 to 11 a.m.
Collection bins will also be located throughout the community during the contest
The final points tally (and final cash collection) will be announced on June 19 at the Leadership BG Alumni quarterly luncheon.
