A Wayne man indicted for murder and other charges in the death of his 3-month-old son last month pleaded
not guilty to all counts in court on Tuesday.
James D. Henderson, 20, was arraigned – unshaven, shackled and dressed in orange county issue –
in the courtroom of Judge Robert Pollex.
Bond in the matter was set at $1 million, no 10 percent allowed.
In arguing bond, Wood County Prosecutor Paul Dobson noted Henderson is no longer in a relationship with
the mother of the child, and is involved with a woman who lives outside of the area.
"His ties are few," said Dobson. "We would consider him a flight risk."
Henderson stands charged with one count of murder, two counts of child endangering and one count of
felonious assault in the May 17 death of his son, Brandon G. Henderson.
The Wood County Coroner’s Office said Tuesday afternoon that an official determination has not yet been
made in the boy’s death. Brain trauma had reportedly been revealed in an autopsy of the infant.
Documents from Bowling Green Municipal Court, where Henderson was initially charged with involuntary
manslaughter in the case, allege Henderson "did knowingly squeeze and shake (his son) … out of
frustration due to Brandon being inconsolable and crying."
The matter is next set for a pre-trial conference at 4 p.m. on July 22.
