The death of a 3-month-old boy last month has been ruled a homicide. The Wood County Coroner's Office said today that Carter Steinmiller, Bowling Green, died of "abusive head trauma" on May 5. Carter's mother, Rebecca Steinmiller, 25, is currently facing one count of child endangerment, related to a broken arm found during an examination following Carter's death. She had reportedly failed to seek treatment for the injury for approximately four days. The charge, a third-degree felony, could be punishable by up to three years in prison. No one has yet been charged in the infant's death. The Wood County Clerk of Courts office said today that Steinmiller is currently out on bond and will next appear in court July 17. |
