The Wood County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board has allocated more than $7 million for its service providers to use over the next year to provide prevention treatment and recovery support to Wood County residents.
The funding will go toward behavioral health services, facilities, recovery services for alcohol and drug addiction, mental health treatment and other services.
Behavioral Connections received the largest share of the funding. It was allocated $4.7 million to provide behavioral health services and facilities for county residents. Behavioral Connections provides the bulk of treatment services for county residents with mental illness and those with addiction to alcohol or drugs. Funds go toward housing, around-the-clock care, medical services, counseling, case management and other needs, said Tom Clemons, executive director of the ADAMHS Board.
The allocations, made at the Board's June 24 meeting, run through June 30.
Other agencies receiving funding include:
• Children's Resource Center, $1.7 million;
• Wood County Educational Service Center, $666,078;
• Family Service of Northwest Ohio, $523,433;
• NAMI Wood County, $191,856;
• Compass Corporation Recovery Services, $46,200;
Clemons said the need for services continues to grow.
During fiscal year 2011, which ran from July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012, the Board served more than 4,400 county residents. When the fiscal year 2012 report is completed, Clemons expects that number will be increased.
Also at the meeting, the board elected its slate of officers. Randy Rothenbuler was elected as chair; Casey Cromwell, vice chair; Harold Rosenberg, treasurer; and Monica Moll, secretary.
