Bowling Green’s Classics on Main Car Show moves into the fast lane for family fun from noon until 4 p.m.
Saturday.
Showcasing great cars of yesterday, today and tomorrow, the event is the largest one-day, judged show in
the region. Registration is on track for another good turnout, and event organizers have made
arrangements for additional exhibitor parking.
Registered cars include everything from a 1929 Ford Roadster to a 1983 DeLorean DMC 12 and a 2013 Wheego
Life, which is part of the Electric Avenue Alternative Fuel Exhibit. Mustangs and muscle cars are well
represented, as are Corvettes, Thunderbirds, Jeeps and a variety of imported cars.
The Classics on Main judges will be handing out awards in 20 categories, plus a Best of Show award. Three
awards will also be given to exhibitors’ favorites, bringing the total number of awards to 54. Awards
will be presented at 3 p.m. by City Council President Mike Aspacher.
Spectator admission is free, and while the vehicles are the heart of the show, organizers have added new
social media games to the mix of family fun that includes car and music trivia games played over the
public address systems. The game "10" celebrates the 10th anniversary of Thayer Family
Dealerships’ Best of Show sponsorship. In that game, two winners will each get 10 Downtown Dollars
certificates, prizes worth $50. In addition to 10, there will be several rounds of Classics Bingo with
prizes provided by local businesses. Details of play and participation will be posted on Facebook and
Twitter, tagged with #ClassicCarsBG, on the day of the show.
Exhibitor registration and parking is from 8 a.m. to noon, and day-of-show vehicle registration costs
$15. Several downtown restaurants are participating in the Car Hop delivery service this year and will
deliver food right to the exhibitors’ cars.
