CLEVELAND (AP) – A body found at a northeast Ohio landfill has been identified as a Bowling Green State
University student who disappeared during a concert in the city on Friday.
Lorain County Sheriff’s Capt. Jim Drozdowski said the body of Cory Barron, 22, Fremont, was found Tuesday
at the county landfill in Oberlin, about 35 miles west of Cleveland.
Drozdowski says a worker noticed the body after a truck dumped its load. He says investigators are
tracing the truck’s route.
Drozdowski said he couldn’t comment on the condition of the body or whether there were signs of how
Barron died. An autopsy is planned today.
Authorities say Barron was last seen Friday night at a concert by country star Jason Aldean at
Progressive Field, home to the Cleveland Indians. The baseball team issued a statement Tuesday saying it
is cooperating with investigators.
Barron was a senior at BGSU majoring in communications.
A statement issued this morning to the university community noted that BGSU "mourns the death"
of Barron, and stated that counselors were available both for students on-campus and away from the
instutition. It further stated they will inform the community when funeral arrangements are made.BGSU
community members also have the opportunity to address condolences to Barron’s family at
[email protected], which the institution will deliver.
"We grieve along with his family and friends and offer them our support," the message
concludes.
