Bowling Green State University may be helping to hatch new businesses in the future.
BGSU Associate Vice President Tim Smith said Friday that the university is currently studying the possibility of sponsoring a business incubator. He made the announcement at the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce's Board of Director's meeting.
"We're looking at a mixed-use type of an incubator" that could accommodate a wide variety of start-up businesses, he said. He contrasted this with the University of Toledo's current business incubator, which is focused solely on technology.
"So what we'd like to do is open this thing up to just about any type of business that feels incubation would be the thing for them."
BGSU has engaged a consultant to assist in envisioning the project, and Smith said that some of the chamber's board member may be called upon for input.
In other business, the board installed new officers and members. Ann Stott was installed as president, with Bruce Stevens, Michelle Evans, and Sandy Milligan returning as vice president, treasurer, and secretary, respectively. Greg Keckler was installed as at-large representative.
New directors installed included Greg Esposito, Tom Moser, Van Spears and Ginny Stewart.
