BG students make 'Positive Start' PDF Print E-mail

(Editor's note: This is the first of a four-day listing of Bowling Green middle school students who were honored.)
The Bowling Green Exchange Club again is recognizing area youth for the good things they've accomplished this past year, in and out of the classroom.
The Exchange Club's Positive Start program asks teachers to honor students who have done something positive. Students must live in the Bowling Green School District and be in grades 7 or 8. The purpose is to honor students who have achieved "to the best of their abilities" to improve the school and community settings.
A luncheon will be held Tuesday at Stone Ridge Golf Club to honor all 88 students who represent Bowling Green Middle School, St. Aloysius Catholic School and Bowling Green Christian Academy.
Sydney Adler is a caring, polite person who frequently puts others before herself. She is active in the BGMS spirit club and the Girl Scouts.
Rachel Amburgey is a member of the BGMS band, choir, and a coach for her sister's basketball team while also practicing her dancing skills for many hours a week. 
Natalie Avery participates in jazz band, choir and rack at BGMS while active in Girl Scouts, a bible study group and volunteers at her church and the public library.
Sara Avery is an eighth-grade student at St. Aloysius Catholic School. She is a very focused student and strives to always do her very best. This year, she chose to complete a History Day project on her own in addition to her normal schoolwork. It is great to see that extra motivation and drive.
Alyson Baker is active in Junior Teen Institute, Spirit Club, Snack and Yak Book club while maintaining a positive attitude at BGMS.
Jonathan Baker is a member of St. Al's church as well as the BGMS football and track teams.
Jared  Bechstein is a positive young man with a strong work ethic being active in BGMS cross country, track and chess club as well as participating in martial arts.
Jessica Beckford plays the tuba not only for BGMS, but in the Northwest Ohio Honors Band.
Stephanie Bell is active in the BGMS Dance Team, Jazz Band, Summer Golf Junior League as well as being a student of the month and a teaching assistant at Julie's dance Studio.
Ryland Black is involved in BGMS orchestra, cross country, wrestling and track. He attends church and plays soccer in the community. He helps with many household chores, and he has won many awards.
Zachary Bozigar is an eighth-grade student at St. Aloysius. He communicates well and cooperates with others. Through hard work and good study habits, he has attained honor roll status while swimming with the Bowling Green Swim Club and participating with the Drama Class.
Alec Brown is a good student at BGMS who participates in basketball and choir. He is a referee for Upward basketball. He also plays travel baseball and golf. Alex is a busy student who was nominated by Team Phoenix.
Clayton Brown is an eighth-grader at BGMS. He is a referee for Upwards Basketball. He is involved in baseball, golf and basketball. Clayton is an outstanding member of Team Phoenix.
Nicholas Burkhart is a polite and respectful student at BGMS who actively participates in class and enjoys helping others. He is active in karate and often helps clean the dojo after class. He is also active in his church.
Sofia Calderon is a creative BGMS student who can always be counted on to participate in class. She works for the Builder's Club Service Organization, and she is active in her church. She plays softball and is on the bowling team.
Patrick Campos is one of the hardest workers at BGMS. His is polite and respectful, and he always strives to do his best. He plays football and wrestles for the Bobcats and volunteers at the library and at his church.
Megan Carmen is an outstanding student who always puts forth her best effort. She is a positive member of BGMS and is active in her church. Megan volunteers at the Wood County Library for the Summer Reading Program.
Charlee Carroll is involved in BGMS track and dance, volunteers at her church in the nursery and at a nursing home.
Natalie Carty is a member of Easy Plus, church youth group and 4-H as well as Captain for Safety Patrol and the BGMS student of the month for January.
Emma Cavins is a hard working BGMS student maintaining an A average in all classes. She is an excellent role model for others.
Jeremy Christoff is an eighth-grader at BGMS and is an outstanding young man who leads by example and has a great attitude. He completed phys-ed class with a 100 percent and gave it all for the school when he was a key member of the football and wrestling teams.
Brian Condon is an outstanding leader and role model for other BGMS students. He encourages other students in band to develop their skills. He often practices with them and offers words of encouragement. Brian has an excellent attitude.
