(Editor's note: This is the last of a four-day listing of Bowling Green middle school students who were honored.)
The Bowling Green Exchange Club again is recognizing area youth for the good things they've accomplished this past year, in and out of the classroom.
The Exchange Club's Positive Start program asks teachers to honor students who have done something positive. Students must live in the Bowling Green School District and be in grades 7 and 8. The purpose is to honor students who have achieved "to the best of their abilities" to improve the school and community settings
A luncheon will be held Tuesday at Stone Ridge Golf Club to honor all 88 students who represent Bowling Green Middle School, St. Aloysius Catholic School and Bowling Green Christian Academy.
Makai Ruffin is a seventh-grade student at BGMS. She has been student of the month; she has won track awards and an Art award. She plays basketball, attends church, takes responsibility for household chores, and is an excellent student.
Gabe Sayer is a seventh-grade student at BGMS. Gabe is an excellent student with a tremendous work ethic. He runs cross country and track. He is also a member of the Edge/BG soccer club and the Boy Scouts of America. Gabe helps coach soccer for younger players and has volunteered time to help fill the shelves of the Christian Food Pantry.
Micaela Schempf is a very hard worker who participates both in the community and at school while maintaining an all A average through the school year at BGMS.
Jeannie Smith is always prepared for the day and is ready to assist her BGMS teachers and peers whenever possible.
Maddy Smotherman is positive and well-spoken in class discussions at BGMS, making her a great role model to her peers by being helpful and friendly to everyone.
Sierra Spears is a seventh-grade student at BGMS. She is a very hard worker and does well academically. She helps complete many chores at home. She has a brown belt in karate and has been named a student of the month at the school.
Trisha Stichler is a seventh-grade student at BGMS. She is an outstanding student and an excellent contributor to her community. In school, she is active in dance team, cross country, and track. She has been a student of the month both years at BGMS and has also received a Foreign Language award.
Jasmine Taylor is a seventh-grade student at BGMS. She was on the cross country team this fall and plans to run track in the spring. She also participates in the band. Jasmine is responsible for household chores and is active in church.
Justin Taylor participates in many extracurricular activities at BGMS, has shown great improvement through the school year, and enjoys being a good teammate.
Jenna Teet is an active member of BGMS. She is a member of Builders Club and Band. She is also president of Cactys Kid 4-H Club. Jenna works hard and is an Honor Roll student.
Hannah Thomas is a seventh-grade student at BGMS. She is in track, softball, and orchestra. Hannah helps out around the house doing chores. She gets good grades. Hannah has won awards for writing stories and poems, some of which have gotten into the newspaper.
Meagan Trimpey is a strong student and member of BGMS. She runs cross-country and track and also competes competitively in gymnastics and has placed first in many competitions. She maintains good grades.
Kelley Turk is a seventh-graders at BG Christian Academy where she works hard in all areas of her academic and extra-curricular activities. The teachers can always count on Kelley to be prepared and take an active role in all she does.
Madison West is a seventh-grade student at BGMS. She has played on the Bowling Green Blaze softball team, sings in choir, babysits, volunteers at church, and does chores around the house. She was honored as MVP on the softball team. She is a 4-H member, and has won awards for projects.
Bentley Wharton participates in BGMS volleyball, basketball, band, OMEA Honor band, was the student of the month while also babysitting and walking dogs.
Mara Willman is active in the BGMS spirit club, yearbook committee and volunteers for her church.
Bryson Winters is an eighth-grader at BG Christian Academy where he has had excellent achievements in academic work and organization. He continues to work hard to better himself in all he does. Bryson is a great student.
Emily Wittig is a creative individual that has been a BGMS student of the month as well as participating on the cross country team.
Dawson Wohler is a member of quiz bowl and band at BGMS. He is involved in a bowling league and is active at his church.
Autumn Yoast is a member of the BGMS dance team is an active member of her church's youth group and an honor roll student.
RaiLyn Zamarripa plays clarinet in BGMS band and is always ready to learn.
