40 jobs to be lost with Northwood plant closing

NORTHWOOD – About 40 workers will be without jobs this fall after Advance Engineering consolidates its
Northwest Ohio plant to a Michigan location.
The company was not required under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act to notify the
state of the anticipated job loss, but it did so anyway in a letter to the Office of Workforce
Development on July 10.
The message, signed by Kevin Jordan, senior vice president and chief financial officer, indicates that
two stamping plants, the Northwood facility and another in Michigan, will be consolidated to an existing
plant in Canton, Michigan.
Employee separations are scheduled for Sept. 1, with the Northwood plant closing at the end of October.

The letter states 40 jobs will be lost, but when specifying which workers will transfer to Canton,
Michigan, it states 34 of 70 employees accepted new positions there.
The employees are not represented by a labor union, according to Jordan, who did not return a phone
message seeking comment on the Northwood closure.
