Special Note about submitting an Engagement announcement!

Anyone wishing to submit an engagement to The Sentinel-Tribune is asked to copy the format in the fictitious engagement printed below, substituting your own information in place of that shown. We have tried to include as many 'issues' as possible in this example of an engagement, including how to list divorced parents, multiple degrees, etc. Be sure to clarify who is announcing the engagement: her parents, his parents, both sets, or no one at all.
* Note: Engagements are printed free of charge as long as the information and photo are both submitted any time MORE THAN one month ahead of the wedding.

Send the engagement information to Lifestyles Editor Karen Nadler Cota via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . On the message line, be sure to use the word 'Engagement.' The photo may be attached, as a high-resolution JPEG file.
If you do not wish to send the announcement via email, the engagement and a studio-quality photo of the couple may be mailed to Mrs. Cota at Sentinel-Tribune, P.O. Box 88, Bowling Green OH 43402.

EXAMPLE ENGAGEMENT:

John and Sue Smith, Weston, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jamie Lynn, to Roger Joseph Johnston, son of Paul Johnston, Batavia, and Elaine and Charles Windom, Princeton, N.J.
The bride-to-be graduated from Lakota High School in 2002 and from Bowling Green State University in 2006 with a B.S. in Sociology. She earned a master's degree in public policy from Allegheny College, Allegheny, Pa., in 2008 and is employed as a research assistant at the Web Position Lab in Chicago.
Johnston graduated from New Wellington High School, Princeton, in 2001 and received an associate degree in business from Owens Community College in 2004. He served in the U.S. Navy from 2005 until 2008 and is currently employed as a rocket scientist for NASA in Huntsville, Ala.
They are planning a June 23, 2011 wedding at St. Mark's Methodist Church, Batavia.

Special Note about submitting an Anniversary announcement!

Anyone wishing to submit an Anniversary announcement to The Sentinel-Tribune is asked to copy the format in the fictitious Anniversary Milestone printed below, substituting your own information in place of that shown. We have tried to include as many 'issues' as possible in this example, including such optional items as where each work/worked prior to retirement, and how to list kids/grandkids. If you don’t want to include so many details, just submit the information you deem relevant.
* Note: Anniversaries are printed free of charge for the 25th, 40th, 50th and 60th years, plus every five years over 60. Most folks submit only a current photo of the couple, but some also provide us with the wedding photo, in which case the two pictures are run side by side. If possible, all information and photos should be submitted at least 8-10 days ahead of the anniversary or open house date. In any event, they MUST be in our hands within 7 days after the anniversary in order for the item to run free of charge.

Send the anniversary information to Lifestyles Editor Karen Nadler Cota via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . On the message line, be sure to use the word 'Anniversary.' The photo may be attached, as a high-resolution JPEG file.
If you do not wish to send the announcement via email, the anniversary and a studio-quality photo of the couple may be mailed to Mrs. Cota at Sentinel-Tribune, P.O. Box 88, Bowling Green OH 43402.

EXAMPLE ANNIVERSARY:

John and Sue (Jones) Smith, Weston, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house on Sunday (April 19) from 2 to 4 p.m. at Holy Chapel of God, Custar.
It is being hosted by their family.
The Smiths were married April 20, 1959 at St. Matthew's Presbyterian Church, Bellevue.
They have three children, Linda Marengo, Chicago; Dave, Bowling Green; and Joshua, Pemberville. They also have four grandchildren, Lisa, Lisette, Tom and Roger; three great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
John Smith, a Navy veteran of the Korean War, is retired from Bowling Green State University where he worked in the grounds department. Sue Smith is retired after 30 years of teaching in the Eastwood and Findlay school districts.
They plan to mark the anniversary with a Caribbean cruise later this month.

DAYTIME phone number of a contact person (REQUIRED!)...............

*** You will notice that the couple in the example above have only a few grandchildren. If that is the case for you, feel free to include their first names. If you have quite a few grandkids, simply list the total number. For great- and great-great-grandkids, we list number only (no names).
If you are having a celebration but it is private/family, then describe it as such and, of course, don't list the hours etc.
