South Bend to mark 50 years since Studebaker closed

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — The city of South Bend is planningevents Friday to mark the 50th
anniversary of the final vehicle rollingof the Studebaker assembly line.Although about 7,000 people
losttheir jobs when the automaker closed, the city is using the anniversaryto look ahead. Union Station
Technology Center Vice President forStrategy Shawn Peterson tells the South Bend Tribune (http://bit.ly/1fzHUvV ) the goal is to recognize those
who worked at Studebaker for whatthey’ve done and put the spotlight on innovation to move the
communityforward.Admission is free to the Studebaker National Museum onFriday. At dusk, all lights in and
around the museum will be turned on,to "ignite the future." There also will be free public tours
