ATLANTA (AP) — Coca-Cola executives say they plan to relocate 2,000 workers from suburban Atlanta to a downtown skyscraper.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/11v0Kv9) that Atlanta-based Coke confirmed Monday that it will relocate the workers from Cobb County to the Peachtree Center area of downtown Atlanta.
Company officials say the information technology workers will be part of an "information technology center of excellence" expected to open in mid-2014.
Coke spokesman Kent Landers said in a statement that the relocation will improve efficiency. The workers moving to Atlanta from the Towers at Wildwood complex in Cobb County are part of the Coca-Cola Refreshments division. That division was created after Coca-Cola acquired the U.S. operations of bottler Coca-Cola Enterprises in 2010.
