Chrysler U.S. sales up 8 percent in January

DETROIT (AP) — Chrysler says its U.S. sales rose 8 percent
in January as it posted strong growth despite the frigid weather that
gripped much of the nation.
The automaker says it sold just over 127,000 vehicles for its best January in six years.
But
analysts don’t expect Chrysler to be the norm as companies report sales
figures Monday. They’re expecting little or no sales growth compared to
a year ago because multiple snowstorms and cold snaps kept buyers from
showrooms.
Analysts still expect sales to be over 16 million this
year — a return to pre-recession levels — as customers go shopping again
once the weather gets warm.
Chrysler sales were led by the Chrysler 200 midsize car and the Ram pickup. Both posted gains of over 20
percent.
