DETROIT (AP) — Sales at Chrysler and Nissan dealers were hot last month, but General Motors, Ford and Volkswagen sales were as frigid as the weather that gripped much of the nation.

Chrysler's U.S. sales advanced 8 percent, while Nissan's rose nearly 12 percent. But GM was down 12 percent, Ford was off 7 percent and Volkswagen slumped 19 percent.

Analysts aren't expecting January to be a strong month for automakers. They're predicting little or no sales growth compared with a year ago because a barrage of snowstorms and cold snaps kept buyers out of showrooms.

Chrysler was an exception, notching its best January in six years. Sales were led by the Chrysler 200 midsize car and the Ram pickup. Both posted gains of more than 20 percent. Jeep brand sales rose 38 percent, fueled by sales of 10,505 new Cherokee small SUVs. It was the company's 46th-straight month of year-over-year sales gains.

JOHANNESBURG (AP) — The executors of Nelson Mandela's estate say he left behind about $4.1 million and that the will's beneficiaries include his family, members of his staff, schools that he attended and the African National Congress, the liberation movement during white rule that now governs South Africa.

Executor Dikgang Moseneke also said Monday that he is not aware of any challenges to the provisions of the will of the anti-apartheid leader who became South Africa's first black president. Mandela died Dec. 5 at age 95.

Moseneke told journalists that the will was read out to family members earlier Monday. He outlined a "provisional inventory" of 46 million South African rand, or $4.1 million, plus additional amounts, but cautioned the amount could change as the will is studied more carefully.

DETROIT (AP) — Chrysler says its U.S. sales rose 8 percent in January as it posted strong growth despite the frigid weather that gripped much of the nation.

The automaker says it sold just over 127,000 vehicles for its best January in six years.

But analysts don't expect Chrysler to be the norm as companies report sales figures Monday. They're expecting little or no sales growth compared to a year ago because multiple snowstorms and cold snaps kept buyers from showrooms.

Analysts still expect sales to be over 16 million this year — a return to pre-recession levels — as customers go shopping again once the weather gets warm.

Chrysler sales were led by the Chrysler 200 midsize car and the Ram pickup. Both posted gains of over 20 percent.
