Amazon workers in Germany on strike over wages

BERLIN (AP) — Hundreds of workers at Amazon.com in Germanyhave walked off the job in an effort to
put pressure on the Americanonline retailer in the busy days before Christmas to settle on a newwage
agreement.The ver.di union said Monday that several hundredworkers were staging one-day warning strikes at
Amazon logistics centersin Leipzig, Bad Hersfeld and Graben.Ver.di says German workerswill also picket with
American colleagues outside the Amazonheadquarters in Seattle to press their demands.The union saysAmazon
workers receive lower wages than others in retail and mail-orderjobs. Amazon says its distribution
warehouses in Germany are logisticscenters and employees are already paid on the upper end of what workersin
