Owners/operators of existing or new agricultural labor camps throughout Ohio can access funds now to assist them with improving their farm-workers living quarters.
These funds are available through WSOS CAC and the program is made possible by a grant from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to the Ohio Association of Community Action Agencies.
Farmers may access the funds for projects including construction, rehabilitation or demolition of migrant farm worker' housing units; gas and electric supply; site improvements; roads, bridges, and parking areas.
The maximum grant amount is no more than $25,000 per camp annually, with a minimum grant amount of $5,000. In addition, the program requires a dollar for dollar match, which cannot be in-kind contributions.
The deadline to submit an application is Nov. 1. The construction must be completed by May 31, 2014. Information and applications are available by calling Cindy Brookes at (419) 334-5016, or online at www.wsos.org.
