COLUMBUS - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources will host three open houses to encourage public participation in state forest management plans.
The closest one to Wood County will be held July 30 in Swanton.
"Each year the ODNR Division of Forestry hosts open houses for interested citizens and neighbors to display planned forest management projects for the upcoming year," said Robert Boyles, state forester and chief of the ODNR Division of Forestry. "These proposed projects include timber harvesting, prescribed burning, timber cruising, treating invasive species, recreation trails and facility maintenance."
The public is cordially invited to attend, ask questions and submit written comments on state forest management plans at any of the following dates and locations:
• Maumee State Forest open house: July 30, from 4-7 p.m. at the Maumee State Forest Headquarters, 3390 County Road D, Swanton. For details, call (419) 822-3052.
• Southern District State Forests open house: July 31, from 4-7 p.m. at Chillicothe. For details, call (740) 774-1596.
• Mohican-Memorial and Eastern State Forests open house: Aug. 1, from 4-7 p.m. at New Philadelphia. For details, call (419) 938-6222.

The ODNR Division of Forestry works to promote the wise use of Ohio's public and private woodlands.
