LUCKEY - Serenity Farm Equestrian Center is currently looking for 25 volunteers.
Executive director Debra DeHoff said they are looking for adults, age 21 and over who are "dedicated with a great commitment level and are willing to serve" in one of the farm's needs.
They need five volunteers to work with the Board of Trustees; 10 volunteers for the Lucky Riders (therapeutic riding) program; five volunteers to work with equine assisted learning; and five creative volunteers for the fundraising campaign.
The organization prefers the volunteers for the equine learning project to be teachers, currently employed or retired or event part-time.
The volunteer orientation will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at the farm, 21870 Lemoyne Road, Luckey.
If interested in becoming involved, visit the website at and complete the volunteer application. For more information, call 419-833-13058.
Please call ahead if you plan on attending the orientation.
Elementary program
The equestrian center is also offering an after school program for elementary-age students on Mondays beginning Sept. 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. The students who participate will be provided a snack, homework assistance by licensed teachers, and take part in equine assisted learning activity for bully prevention.
Organizers say class sizes are small, so parents and caregivers are encouraged to register early. Registration is available at the website,, under workshops or call the office at 419-833-13058.
