Haskins 4-H Clover Crew donates 350 glasses to Lions

The Haskins 4-H Clover Crew donated 350 pair of used eyeglasses to the Bowling Green Evening Lions Club
for recycling. This 4-H Club has been collecting glasses for the Lions for three years.
Lions of Ohio collects, cleans, classify and packages thousands of used eyeglasses each year for use by
volunteer optometric mission teams (VOSH-Ohio http://www.voshohio.com) to third-world countries where
eye care is inaccessible and unaffordable. This donation will help supply these teams with their needed
100,000 glasses a year.
The BG Lions acknowledged 4-H Leader Julie Wenig and all the members of Clover Crew for their public
service.
"We need everyone to donate their used eyeglasses," said Bob Segna, President. "In most
developing countries, an eye exam can cost as much as one month’s wages and a single eye doctor may
serve a community of hundreds of thousands of people."
To donate used glasses (including sunglasses and reading glasses), place them in the specially marked
Lions Recycle For Sight collection boxes located at many sites around Bowling Green including
Optometrists Offices, Ben Franklin’s, Kroger Pharmacy, Wal-Mart Vision Center, various churches and the
Senior Center.
