Jeff Hahn, of Perrysburg, was elected as the only new board member to the Wood County Agricultural Society on Monday.

He was elected to fill the remaining two-year term which was held by Julie Allen for one year. Allen was appointed to the board when no one ran for that seat in 2012.

Allen, however, will remain on what is routinely referred to as the Senior Fair Board as she was elected to fill the vacant seat representing Bowling Green. That seat was open due to the resignation of Jo Sipes last year.

Current president Bill Kale, Portage, and Collette Dickey, Bowling Green, were approved by voters to retain their two at-large seats.

Hahn bested a slate of four candidates for the seat as he out-polled Cody Bame, Portage; Sheila Patton, Dunbridge; and Jeff Schulte, Walbridge.

Allen defeated Holliday (Converse) Thomas, for the Bowling Green post. Dickey and Kale were the top at-large candidates in the field of four for the three-year term. They bested Cindi Knell of Bowling Green, and Jennifer Bankey, Custar,

Seven additional current board members ran unopposed for their Township seats. Those board members with their township, are Nancy Aurand, Portage; Doug Michaelis, Washington; Deanne Corken, Webster; Steve Speck, Middleton; Steve Thomson, Perry; Dennis Zernhel, Jackson; and Dick King, Montgomery.

Corken did not serve the entire year last year as she was appointed to finish the year for her late father, Darrel Hentges.

All 11 chosen by voters on Monday will be sworn in at the September fair board meeting.
