Last month 10 members of the Eastwood FFA Chapter attended 86th Ohio FFA Convention in Columbus.
During the convention, FFA members Hannah Frobose, Maddie Kemner, Harrison Patton, Landon Richards and
Lucas Tuck received the State FFA Degree. Interestingly, all five will be seniors this fall. The State
FFA Degree is the highest degree that a member can receive at the state level.

SAE projects consist of raising market cattle and she has participated in the Parliamentary Procedure,
Public Speaking, and General Livestock Career Development Events. She is also a member of 4-H, the

County 4-H Livestock Judging team.
Kemner, the daughter of Dan and Linette Kemner, had SAE projects consisting of raising market steers,
market goats, market lambs, and market hogs. She has also participated in the Job Interview, Public
Speaking, and Soil Career Development Events. Kemner is also a member of 4-H and the Freedom Post 183
Calf Club, as well as having served as a volunteer with the Wood Lane Special Olympics.
Patton, the son of Mark and Sheila Patton, raised two acres of sweet corn and market steers for his SAE
projects. He has also competed in the General Livestock and Public Speaking CDE’s. Patton is also
involved in 4-H and is currently serving on the Wood County Junior Fair Board.
Richards, the son of Curt and Kim Richards, is currently serving as the chapter vice president. His SAE
projects consist of raising breeding sheep, market lambs, and market steers. He has also competed in the
General Livestock and Greenhand Quiz CDE’s. Richards is also involved in 4-H and has served as an
Eastwood 6th grade camp counselor.
Tuck, the son of Gary and Lori Tuck, worked at a local dairy farm for his SAE project. He has also
competed in the General Livestock and Soils Career Development Events. Tuck is also involved in 4-H and
is a member of the Wood County Livestock Judging Team.
In other convention news, the Eastwood Equine Management CDE team participated in the State Finals held
at the Rhodes Center. Members Beau Kerr, Jolynn Nissen, and Jonelle Nissen combined to place 10th in
Ohio in the contest.
FFA officers Logan Browne and Liz Hirzel also received a gold medallion for work on their chapter officer
books. Browne served as the 2013-14 chapter treasurer and Hirzel served as the 2013-14 chapter
secretary.
Other Eastwood FFA members attending the convention included Harold Dippman, Jonathan Konecny, Logan
