Field day is Thursday
HASKINS - There will be an "Organic and Sustainable Agriculture Field Day" on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
It will be held at the Agricultural Incubator Foundation, 13737 Middleton Pike (Ohio 582), just west of Ohio 25.
The field day is free and open to the public. No reservations needed and a meal will be provided.
The agenda includes discussion of Ohio State University Organic Food and Farming Education Research program where scientists will discuss results and seek comments for future research; Organic Valley organic corn variety test plot, 24 varieties; Zeolite soil amendment research, USDA long-term organic eco-system services grant results, no-till organic grain production, cover crops, pest scouting and organic controls.
The field day is sponsored by Ohio Agricultural Research & Development Center and OSU Extension.

Conservation ATM tour 9/14
The Wood Soil and Water Conservation District will be holding a "Conservation ATV Tour" on Sept. 14.
The event will be held rain or shine and all participants must be at least 18 years old.
Advance registration is needed by Friday. Signed waivers are also required.
Organizers say the tour will showcase the steps crop and livestock producers are are taking to prevent algae blooms in Lake Erie and also highlight areas of concern in the county.
Stops on the tour will include the Wood County Landfill wind farm, Naomi Dairy, the OARDC Northwest Ag Research Station, Deshler Farmers Elevator Agronomy Center and Beaver Creek Preserve.
Accommodations can be made for those who want to participate for the entire day, as well as those who want to make specific stops.
The tour begins at 8 a.m. and is expected to end around 3:30 p.m. A light breakfast and lunch will be served. Check-in and breakfast begins at 7 a.m.
The idea for the tour came as a result of a successful similar tour by the Muskingum SWCD.
