Master Gardener program offers informational meeting PERRYSBURG - Those interested in becoming a Master Gardener volunteer, should join organizers for an informational meeting on Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. at Way Public Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave. Learn about the program and the commitment that is necessary to become a certified Master Gardener Volunteer through Ohio State University Extension. Get a glimpse into how the program has made an impact in Wood County through its volunteers. The meeting is free and open to the public. Applications for the program will be available. Classes are offered one evening a week, starting the end of January and running through April. Pesticide disposal set locally The Ohio Department of Agriculture will be sponsoring a collection for farmers wishing to dispose of unwanted pesticides on Aug. 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Wood County Junior Fair Building, 1380 W. Poe Road. The collection and disposal service is free of charge, but only farm chemicals will be accepted. Paint, antifreeze, solvents, and household or non-farm pesticides will not be accepted. Pesticide collections are sponsored by the department in conjunction with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Soil, water district to meet The Wood Soil & Water Conservation District monthly Board of Supervisors meeting will be Friday at 8 a.m. at the district office, 1616 E Wooster St., Suite 32.
