Tickets go on sale Saturday for Beach Boys concert
Ticket sales for the Beach Boys concert at the Wood County Fair begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Wood County Fair Office, 13800 West Poe Road. On-line ticket sales begin at noon. Grandstand seats are $25. Track $30 and $45. All seats reserved.
Hosta/daylily work day and meeting set
The Black Swamp Hosta and Daylily Society will be holding a workday on April 20, from 9 a.m. to noon in the hosta shade gardens behind the Conference Center at Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Drive, Toledo.
Members will be doing a spring clean-up to prepare the gardens for public viewing. Please come prepared to work and bring tools such as rakes and brooms.
Those attending should bring a lunch so they may attend the meeting of the Society which follows at 1 p.m. April 20, in the Conference Center of Toledo Botanical Garden
Those attending will be discussing the upcoming May plant sale, how to display leaves and other items of interest for the Hosta Leaf Show in June, and upcoming events including the Dayton bus trip and member garden tour.
Pond clinic offered
In collaboration with Bill Cody aka "the Pond Doctor" and OSU Extension Wood County, the Wood Soil Water and conservation District will host a pond clinic on April 17 from 7 - 9 p.m.
The guest presenters include Cody and Craig Everett of the Extension office. Topics to be covered include: "New Concepts of Fish Stocking for Ponds," to include discussion on new possibilities for different species of fish in local ponds; along with "The Goals of the Pond Owner."
Gleaners to meet Saturday
Portage Center Arbor No. 524 will be meeting at 6 p.m. Saturday at The China Restaurant, 1039 Haskins Road.
There will be a short meeting following dinner. The public is invited to join.
