Eastwood FFA attends convention

Twelve Eastwood FFA members attended the National FFA Convention, which was
held in Louisville, Ky., from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2. The members were transported to the convention with the
Bowling Green FFA Chapter in a chartered bus.While there, the attending students attended the FFA Career
Show, which was host to numerous different agricultural colleges and businesses from across the country.
Chapter members also toured Churchill Downs, which is home of the Kentucky Derby, saw country singer Dierks
Bentley in concert, and attended various convention sessions featuring motivational speakers and retiring
National FFA officers.The Eastwood FFA members who attended were Kirsten Ameling, Michaela Booth, Garrett
Browne, Hunter Frobose, Jaimee Hiser, Jolynn Nissen, Jonelle Nissen, Harrison Patton, Aubrey Peters, Megan
Rolf, Garrett Tuck and Lucas Tuck.American DegreeThree graduate members of the Eastwood FFA chapter received
the American FFA Degree on the final day of the convention.Bryan Cajka, Nichole Eschedor, and Michaela
Moenter each received the prestigious degree. In order to achieve the American FFA Degree, FFA members must
be at least 12 months removed from high school, must have completed numerous FFA and community service
activities, and must have earned a minimum of $7,500 from their Supervised Agricultural Experience
projects.Cajka is the son of James and Karen Cajka. His SAE projects consisted of raising alfalfa and red
clover hay and working on the Cajka family farm. He served as the chapter’s sentinel and participated as a
member of the parliamentary procedure, meat judging, and agricultural and industrial diagnostics career
development event teams. He also participated in the chapter’s chicken barbecue, the Luckey Fall Festival
Antique Tractor Pull, and was a youth leader at his local church Bible School. Cajka is currently attending
Owens Community College majoring in diesel technology.Eschedor is the daughter of David and Cindy Eschedor.
Her SAE projects consisted of raising breeding and market beef, and working on the Eschedor Livestock Farm.
She served as the chapter’s student advisor and participated as a member of the parliamentary procedure,
soil, and agricultural communications CDE teams. She also attended the state and national FFA conventions as
well as assisting with Babyland at the Wood County Fair. Eschedor is attending Owens Community College
majoring in math and science education.Moenter is the daughter of Mike and Judy Moenter. Her SAE projects
consisted of raising breeding and market sheep, raising chocolate labrador dogs, and working at Rainbow
Farms. She participated as a member of the soil, greenhand quiz, and agricultural communications CDE teams.
She also attended FFA Camp Muskingum, state and national FFA conventions, and assisted with Babyland at the
Wood County Fair. Moenter is attending Stautzenberger College majoring in veterinary technology.
