Hundreds of members, parents and guests filled the Bowling Green High School gymnasium April 12 for the 83rd annual Bowling Green FFA banquet.
Among the top awards presented to the members was the Outstanding Senior Award to both Amanda Barndt and Ben Wilhelm; Alex Wynn was recognized as the Star Chapter Farmer and Nolan Brennan as the Star Greenhand. Madalyn Fletcher received the Star Accounting award; while Taylor DeSmith received the AgCredit 100 Percent honor. The Soil and Water Conservation District award was presented to Tim Kleman.
The Honorary Chapter Degree was bestowed upon Alice Hackworth, Dana Wilson and Eric Leonard.

MARYSVILLE - Sydney Mazey of Weston placed third overall with her Simmental Heifer last month during the Ohio Beef Expo.
She received a $130 premium.
The Ohio Cattlemen's Association hosted the inaugural Best of the Buckeye show at the Ohio Beef Expo on March 16 during the junior show. The Best of the Buckeye program, coordinated by OCA in conjunction with the Ohio Beef Expo and Ohio State Fair, had a strong first show with more than 170 head of cattle nominated by youth and breeders to date.
The program recognizes top Ohio bred, born and registered calves, along with the breeder and exhibitor, in each breed division at the two shows.

The Elmwood FFA team won the State FFA Ag. Mechanics Skills Career Development Event by not only taking first place but having all three of its team members sweep the top three individual positions.
Senior Mitch Beaverson claimed first place individual honors and earned a $1,000 scholarship to Ohio State University's Agricultural Technical Institute.
Junior Jay Graham was  second.
Rounding out the team was Garrett Benschoter in third place, out of 62 contestants.
The competition for the contest took place April 11 at ATI in Wooster.

Pemberville Fair goats I.D. day set
Body: PEMBERVILLE - April 26 will be the I.D. day for the Pemberville Free Fair Market Goat Show and Sale. Goats should be brought to the American Legion Hall from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information call 419-601-1970.

Wood 'n Horses
Wood 'n Horses 4-H Club met on March 21. The members sold raffle tickets as a fundraiser for the club. The raffle ticket prizes were horse supplies including a girth, fly spray, and other things. The money will be put towards bedding for the horses during fair.
The next meeting was scheduled to have been held Thursday.
