The Bowling Green FFA chapter has once again achieved the pinnacle by earning the prestigious 3-star chapter award.
The top honor was recently announced as 19 members of the Bowling Green FFA Chapter attended the 2013 National FFA Convention and Expo in Louisville, Ky.
The group joined with nearly 70,000 other FFA members and guests at the annual event.
Members traveled on a charter bus with Eastwood FFA members and their adviser, leaving on Oct. 30. After checking into the hotel and dinner, the members enjoyed the Jana Kramer and Dierks Bentley concert. The following day members enjoyed more than 2,400 booths at the career show in the convention center as well as the FFA Shopping Mall. After grabbing a bite to eat all of the FFA members went to the afternoon session where the chapter was recognized as one of the elite chapters in the nation, earning the 3 star chapter award, out of 7,400 chapters.
The award is based on the activities the chapter does throughout the year in the areas of community, chapter, and student development. Later that week activities included a tour of Churchill Downs where the famous Kentucky Derby Horse Race is run.
Following the tour, the FFA members attended another convention session where they were able to witness the National Proficiency Award winners. The Bowling Green FFA Chapter attended the last session and watched FFA members receive the American FFA Degree.
Deb Apple accompanied the group as a chaperone.
