The air gets a little cooler, the leaves change colors; it is the season for bonfires, corn mazes, and everything apples. October is a prime time for picking apples, enjoying cider, and learning all about what's new in the apple industry.
Bill Dodd, director of the Ohio Apples Marketing Program, president of the Ohio Fruit Growers Marketing Association, and owner of Hillcrest Orchards (Amherst, Ohio), will discuss new apple production techniques and EverCrisp® (a new apple variety release from the Midwest Apple Improvement Association) at the monthly Northwest Ohio Ag-Business Breakfast Forum.
The theme is "Comparing apples to apples" for the Oct. 17 session.
Networking starts at 8 a.m., and the forum begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Agricultural Incubator Foundation, 13737 Middleton Pike, Bowling Green.
Earlier this year, Dodd was selected as the executive director of the Premier Apple Cooperative. Premier is an organization comprised of roughly 100 apple packers in eight eastern states dedicated to sharing information to help the apple industry thrive.
