On Sunday the Jackson Livestock 4-H club held its monthly meeting. Roll call was conducted by asking members what their favorite color of a T-shirt was.
Demonstrations were given by Rachel Wenzinger, who spoke about how to form sugar mold shapes. Lindsay Davis then spoke about what judges look for in an ideal market hog from a production standpoint. Ross Wenzinger informed the club members about how to tie a fishing hook to the fishing line. He also spoke of the different kinds of lures used for fishing and what fish they attract.
Next, Ryan Wenzinger gave a demonstration on three different kinds of knots, and the three parts of a rope. Finally, Katie Sheeks gave a demonstration on the different cuts of meat on a goat and some products that come from goats.
Club members were informed that livestock books would be looked at and majority of the time would be used to work on their booth. Then, members enjoyed snacks. The next meeting will be a potluck on July 12 at advisers Matt and Monica Davis' house.
Blue Ribbon Rangers
The Blue Ribbon Rangers 4-H Club met Monday at the church in Dowling. Members chose the theme for its booth at the fair. The judging shirts are in and club shirts are going to be ordered.
Members also discussed mulching barns, decorating and booth set-up.
A fundraiser will be held at McDonald's on Monday. There will be club activity at Ohio Skate on July 13. Members will work the milkshake barn at the fair on both July 31 and Aug. 3. Members reminded they must wear a hat when working at the milkshake barn.
The next meeting will be July 15 with the location to be determined.
