On Sunday the Jackson Livestock 4-H club held its monthly meeting. Roll call was conducted by asking members their favorite candy. Members responsible for recycling were informed of the date which is this Saturday from 9-11:30 a.m.
Members were also reminded that their roadside pick-up was to be done as soon as possible, if it wasn't completed already.
Demonstrations were done by Cortlan Sheeks who spoke on the top five meat goats and Bridgette Swartz who shared with members how to properly cut goat horns. The club then discussed ideas for their booth and if they wanted new club T-shirts.
Members taking animals then filled out livestock identification forms and then the whole club enjoyed snacks.
The next meeting will be on June 9 at the OARDC Research Farm.
The Golden Key 4-H club was busy in Custar on Saturday. They had a bake sale at the bank and also worked the recycling center. Next Saturday any member who is taking livestock is required to meet at the church at 9 a.m. to complete paper work.
