Country Guys & Gals
The Country Guys & Gals 4-H Club met March 24 at the Portage Township Building
Project books were passed out which were paid for by the club. The club looked at schedules with treats/drinks, demonstrations and recycling for the next meeting.
Members discussed the Jr. Fair T-Shirt which is available at the Extension Office for $10. They are dark gray with red, black, and white. The club discussed collecting sizes and money for those who want one.
Demonstrations were given by Nolan Brennan on hockey sticks and Chelsey Morlock about a book written by Jim Tressel (she read some inspiring quotes from the book).
The meeting finished with recreation, treats and drinks.
The community service project for May 4 was reviewed. The quilt square deadline is May 28. Members will be putting a committee together to paint it once it is constructed.
The club was reminded of the County Quality Assurance which is May 16 at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds. The club's meeting will be set after the volunteer is trained.
The next meeting will be April 14 at 7 p.m.
Haskins Clover Crew
The Haskins Clover Crew 4-H Club met on March 25 at the Wenig Farm.
The club discussed dates for a camping trip and decided on the weekend of August 10. The club will be camping at Sauder's Village. In order to raise money for this event, the club will sell cookies and pies for a fundraiser.
The club also welcomed Maddie Kramp, Izabella Wright, Samuel Eggenton, Maureen Conelly, Max London, Joseph Dzierwa, and Maggie Lensten as new members to the club. Members then voted on this year's club officers. President went to Ali Ortiz, vice president went to Mackenzie Wenig, secretary went to Megan Ortiz, treasurer went to Alex Wenig, news reporter went to Mallory Beach, health and safety went to Luke Beach, and recreation leaders went to Madison Dzierwa and Maureen Conelly.
To end the meeting the club counted and sorted 275 pairs of glasses to be donated to the Lions Club. Hope London brought a snack and drink to share.
The 4-H-I-O club met March 24.
Members elected officers while the Cloverbuds made seed mosaics with Cloverbud director/club member Jessie Griffith.
This year's elected officers are: Kyra Contris, president with her vice president, Brianne Kwiatkowski, The secretary is Hannah Owens, news reporter, Sheriden Schuerman, The health and safety officers will be Katelyn Meyer and Chloe Wilson; while the recreation officer is Tyler Ruck. Breana Brockschmidt will serve as photographer.
The meeting ended with snack and demonstration about food pyramids by Paige Contris.
Future activities include establishing club committees, choosing a fundraiser, and performing service projects.
The next meetings will be April 7 and 21 at 6 p.m. at the church.
