Leaders of Tomorrow
The Leaders of Tomorrow 4-H group met Sunday. Some of this year's new members were there and were introduced and welcomed into the club. Everyone was given registration forms and other club information, such as advisor contact information and this years calendar.
Members looked at a variety of project books they had to choose from this year. After the meeting everyone enjoyed a game and refreshments. If anybody wants to join be sure to contact a current member or adviser before the enrollment deadline, March 15.
The next meeting will be 2 p.m. March 17 at Andy Wilhelm's house.
The Lucky Charms 4-H club met Feb. 10, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Bowling Green.
The club held officer installation with all officers pledging to accept the responsibility of the office. Newly installed president Kiera Miller called the meeting to order.
Health and safety officer Dana Kleman spoke on interesting facts about household fires, like one starts every 30 minutes in the state of Ohio. Kiera Miller and Meridith Schultz reported on the PJ sewing clinic that they attended. Abby Basteson told the group all the fun things she did at "Midnight Madness." Recreation leader Tim Kleman taught the members how to ski using pieces of wood instead of skis. Members had to work together to move the skis to the other side of the room.
Abby Bateson gave a demonstration on creating an interesting scrapbook page. Members decorated Valentine's cookies; dipped strawberries and marshmallows in chocolate as a Valentine's treat for their families.
A game of Valentine's trivia was played. Members answered questions such as what fruit is known as the "Love Apple?" Hint, it is a fruit popular in Wood County, and Who kissed the girls and made them cry? At the end of the meeting the older members mentored the new members with their projects.
The next meeting is 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church with students from Owens Community College Dental hygiene program will be conducting a program.
The Wood N' Horses 4-H club met Jan. 24 for the first meeting of the season. It was an organizational meeting, trophy sponsorships for the 2013 fair were discussed and voted, club bylaws, constitution and 4-H enrollment forms were passed out, fundraising options were discussed and the club was told of the Horseman's Flea Market on March 24 at the fairgrounds. Members are reminded to bring their enrollment forms to the next meeting or turn them into the extension office by March 15. The next meeting is Thursday at the Wood County Park District Office (18729 Mercer Road, Bowling Green) at 7 p.m., when enrollment forms will be collected and club officers will be voted upon.
