TONTOGANY – The second annual Otsego Hall of Fame ceremony will recognize three in its 2013-2014
induction class on Friday.
The event will take place at Otsego High School, with a small reception for family and friends of the
inductees held at 6:30 p.m. Presentation of the awards will follow the boys’ junior varsity game in the
gymnasium.
This year’s inductees include:
• Randy Donald, a 1971 Otsego alumnus, and a physical education teacher and baseball and football coach.
In Donald’s 22 years as the head baseball coach, he led the team to 231 wins – the most in school
history – four regional finals appearances and four league championships. He additionally spent 26 years
as football coach.
• Ann Laskey, math and business teacher. Laskey taught in the Otsego School District for 22 years,
teaching middle school and high school classes. She was also an advisor for the Grand Rapids Middle
School Newspaper. Laskey was once nominated for the Ohio Teacher of the Year Award and volunteered on
the Grand Rapids Town Council, was the treasurer of the village’s historical society, and helped start
the local library branch and the Applebutter Fest.
• Lawrence "Skip" Sprague, 1938 Otsego alumnus. Sprague was a graduate of Washington Township
High School, where he played varsity baseball and basketball. In 1943, he was awarded the Distinguished
Service Cross while serving with the United States Army’s 32nd Division in New Guinea for extraordinary
heroism while in action against enemy forces. This is the second-highest award that can be bestowed upon
an Army serviceman.
A family member will accept his award.
