Terra shares benefits of co-ops

FREMONT – In a tight job market, any edge can mean the difference between finding a job and
standing in the unemployment line. So Career Services at Terra State Community College is spreading a
three-word message – Cooperative Education Program. The college was awarded a grant that provides co-op
scholarships to students and has provided funds to expand and promote its cooperative education program. In a
co-op, a student is temporarily employed in a job that closely aligns with his/her major. All positions must
be paid, and a faculty advisor is involved in supervising the experience and developing learning outcomes.
Co-ops carry more weight than internships because of the faculty involvement.
