Elmwood High SchoolBLOOMDALE – Savannah Naugle-Baker is the November Student of the Month at
Elmwood High School.She is the daughter of Patrick and Carrie Baker, Portage.She is vice president of her
senior class and has received academic honors in pre-calculus, anatomy and art 1 this year.She is a member
of National Honor Society and has a 4.0 gpa.She’s on the varsity women’s golf team, and is a four-year
letter winner, was named 1st team all league, and shot the first hole in one in EHS history.She’s also a
four-year varsity letter winner in swimming and qualified for districts twice.The senior teaches
prekindergarten Sunday school at Church of the Good Shepherd and teaches elementary students once a week
after school.She plans to attend Heidelberg University to major in political science and pre-med.Penta
Career CenterPERRYSBURG – Trent Morelock, a senior from Rossford High School, who is enrolled in the Public
Safety/EMT-Fire Science program at Penta Career Center, has been selected as the Career-Technical Student of
the Month for November by the Perrysburg Kiwanis Club.At Rossford, Morelock played baseball during his
freshman and sophomore years. He also was a member of the Rossford Ski Club. He remains active in the
Rossford Drama Club, where he has participated in every club production since his freshman year of high
school. During his junior year, he served as the historian of the club. He has earned a varsity letter
through his participation in the drama club.At Penta, he has been on the honor roll all quarters and is the
recipient of the Penta Achievement Award.Morelock is a member of SkillsUSA, a career-technical student
leadership organization. Through SkillsUSA, he has been involved in many community service activities. He
and his classmates in the Public Safety/EMT-Fire Science program are recipients of the 2013 Presidential
Volunteer Service Award for logging more than 250 hours of community service hours during one school
year.Outside of school, the senior is active with the Lutheran Church of the Master and is a junior member
of the Fraternal Order of Eagles where he has served as the junior president.He plans to attend Hocking
College to obtain the EMT Paramedic certification.Otsego High SchoolTONTOGANY – Paige Hill was honored as
the November Student of the Month at Otsego High School.Also honored were junior Josie Limes, sophomore
Tyler Weber and freshman Lauren Gray.Hill is the daughter of Don Hill and Leah Hill, Weston.She participates
in book and media club and Teen Institute.She has a 3.2 gpa.She was a delegate to Buckeye Girls State last
year.The senior is planning to attend Bowling Green State University to study early childhood
education.Limes, of Grand Rapids, has participated in the school musical, womens’ choir, Young Life,
volleyball, track and chorale.She also plans to attend BGSU to enter the medical field to become a
registered nurse.She is the daughter of Matt and Michelle Limes.Weber is the son of Andrea LeBarr-Weber and
Mark Weber.He is in book and media club and chorale, and has also participated in swing choir and the
musical.Gray, of Grand Rapids, is the daughter of John Gray and Jane Gray.She participates in FFA,
basketball, volleyball and womens’ choir, and is the reporter for novice parliamentary procedure.Sadie
VanHorn was named the October Student of the Month at Otsego.Also honored in October were junior Gavin
Spilker, sophomore Olivia Jinnings and freshman Lydia Archambo.VanHorn, of Weston, has participated four
years in varsity cross country and varsity track, plus book and media club and fine arts. She also is a
member of National Honor Society and has a 4.0 gpa and ranks first in her class.She was a Buckeye Girls
State delegate last year and was the district Americanism Test winner in 2011-12.The daughter of Gary and
Paula VanHorn, she plans to attend college to study biochemistry and molecular biology.Spilker is the son of
Doug and Jessica Spilker, Weston. He is in mens’ choir, swing choir, and was lead in last year’s musical.He
hopes to study economics and anthropology at either the University of Oregon or University of Auckland, New
Zealand.Jinnings is the daughter of Alan and Vikki Jinnings. She is treasurer of student council and is also
a member of track, concert choir and musical.Archambo, of Grand Rapids, participates in cross country,
marching band and book and media club.She is president of her 4-H club and is a member of First United
Methodist Church.
