Penta Career Center/Rossford
My Hiep Doan, a senior from Rossford High School, who is enrolled in the cosmetology program at Penta Career Center, has been selected as the Career-Technical Student of the Month for January by the Perrysburg Kiwanis Club.
At Penta, Doan has been on the honor roll and has a 3.6 cumulative grade point average. She is a member of SkillsUSA, a career-technical student organization and currently serves as vice president of her cosmetology class. In addition, she is a member of the National Technical Honor Society and serves as a Penta Ambassador.
Through her involvement with SkillsUSA, she has competed in the nail care contest and, in 2013, placed first in the local SkillsUSA competition. This school year she will be competing in the Job Skill Demo A contest through SkillsUSA.
Throughout her high school experience, the senior has enjoyed volunteering for various activities. She has participated in the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society.  In addition, she has been a volunteer tutor at Glenwood Elementary School in Rossford.
Doan works at her family's nail salon in Northwood.
After she completes the cosmetology program at Penta and graduates from Rossford High School, she plans to attend Owens Community College and work as a nail technician.
