Reception for international teachers at Owens tonight

Owens Community College will host 17 teachers from the Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program
sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Dept. of State. The program is a
six-week professional development program focused on cross-disciplinary education, curriculum
development, effective teaching strategies in English/EFL-World Languages and instructional technology.
Additionally, participants partner with experienced middle or secondary educators in Northwest Ohio as
well as engage in civic and cultural activities.
The TEA fellows are middle and high school teachers from Algeria, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Colombia, Côte
d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Honduras, India, Iraq, Jordan, Nepal, Nigeria, Senegal, Ukraine, Uzbekistan,
Vietnam, and Yemen.
The TEA fellows located at Bowling Green State University and will also be visiting Owens to learn more
about 2-year colleges.
The community is invited to attend an open house and learn about the program, tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. in
