Quiz bowl teams from across Wood County will compete Monday and Tuesday for the title of 2013 champions.
The elementary school teams will compete Monday, and the middle school teams will compete Tuesday.
Students representing seven elementary and seven middle school teams will take turns buzzing in with answers to questions on history, literature, math and U.S. presidents at the annual quiz bowl tournaments hosted by the Wood County Educational Service Center. Instructions will be given at 4 p.m. both days at the ESC, at 1867 N. Research Drive. Trophies will be handed out after all matches are completed, usually around 6:15 p.m.
The tournaments are open to the public.
Elementary teams plus competitors names and coaches expected to participate represent:
Hilfiker: Brenden Frey, Emma Widmer, Carlos Negrin III, Justin Foreman, Jake Foster, Hannah Sworden, Zach Hoodlebrink, Ryan Novotny, Payton Balsizer, Olivia Carnicom, Luke Roberts. Coach is Erika Foster.
Gibsonburg: Duncan Allport, Grace Groweg, Austin Jors, Kaylynne Markel, Emily Mazurek, Wyatt Nissen,
Nicole Schlea, Nathan Tornow, Jenna Vann. Coach is Amy Tornow
Lake: Travis Folley, Joshua Holley, Joseph Pierce, Sam Herman, Justin Cole, Timmy Walker, Dan Conklin, Jacee Reihing, Caleb Salyer. Coach is Anita Price
Eastwood: David Deniston, Alissa Ray, Liz Arntson, Noah Hahn , Jack Chappuies, Erik Fertig, Lewis Rowan, Luke Coffman. The coaches are Kari Hildreth and Jan Fries.
Bowling Green Christian Academy: Joe Allen, Hannah Bowlus, Olivia Columber, Katie Fyfe, Tyler Barnhart, Laurel Bruhl. Coach is Sue Larimer.
The win-loss record of each team was not provided.
Coaches from Otsego and Elmwood did not supply information.
For the middle school, the teams with their current records are: Woodmore 2-4; Otsego 2-4; North Baltimore 0-5; Gibsonburg 2-3; Lake 6-0; Eastwood 5-1; and Elmwood 3-3.
Coaches are Nikki Bazzoli, Lake; Diane Swartz, Eastwood; Fritz Wolfram, Otsego; Ryan Lamb, North Baltimore; Tom Stewart, Gibsonburg; Courtney Reiner, Woodmore; and Katie Smith, Elmwood.
The names of the students were not provided by deadline.
