Penta students qualify for national competition

PERRYSBURG – Students from Penta Career Center and several of its satellite programs recently earned top
awards at the Ohio Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) convention and the SkillsUSA
Ohio Championship in Columbus.
As a result of earning top awards there, several Wood County students qualify for the FCCLA National
Leadership Conference July 6-10 in San Antonio, Texas.
These students include:
Early Childhood Education students and gold medal winners Colleen Kaylor, Perrysburg, Teach and Train
contest; Hortencia Perez, Bowling Green, Promote and Publicize contest; Elisa Reyes, Eastwood, and
Chelsea Elam, Lake, Illustrated Talk contest.
Culinary Arts students and gold medal winners Nicole Lambert, Bowling Green, and Brandi Alderman, Otsego,
Entrepreneurship contest.
Samantha Neiswander, a Teaching Professions student from Perrysburg High School, earned gold in the
Nutrition and Wellness contest.
Annabella Voska, from Penta’s Family and Consumer Science program at Otsego Junior High School, also
earned gold in the Nutrition and Wellness contest.
The following Wood County students earned gold medals and qualify for the SkillsUSA National Leadership
and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Missouri.
Brandi Alderman, Otsego, and Nicole Lambert, Bowling Green, Culinary Arts, Entrepreneurship contest.
Students who earned silver medals included Justin Phllips, North Baltimore, Construction Masonry, Masonry
contest.
Earning bronze medals were Nick Schavey, Northwood, Construction Carpentry, Cabinet Making contest; and
Cameron Reef, Perrysburg, Digital Video Production, Digital Cinema Production contest.
