The Owens Community College Alpha Omega Pi Student Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society is encouraging area residents to help in the fight against hunger by donating a canned good as part of an initiative titled "Project Graduation: Feed a Body, Feed a Mind" on Friday.
Donated items, as well as monetary donations, can be dropped off during the day of the college's spring commencement. The collection point will be located in the hallway outside the Student Health and Activities Center gymnasium, where commencement ceremonies will occur that evening. Canned goods will be accepted from 5:30 to 9 p.m. All donations will be used to help the Owens Harvest Food Pantry initiative.
