Otsego seeks new treasurer

TONTOGANY – The Otsego School District is searching for a new treasurer.
On Monday, the board accepted the resignation of Dawn Jacobs, effective July 31.
Jacobs, of Bowling Green, has taken a similar post with Huron City Schools.
She said she spends a lot of time in Huron and is looking forward to moving to the lake-side town.
She was hired at Otsego in December 2012.
Superintendent Adam Koch said the district will start interviewing for the post in early July.
Also at the meeting, the board learned that all but four third-graders passed the Third Grade Reading
Guarantee by the spring testing date. Three are on individual education plans and one has two more
chances this summer to pass the test.
Eighty-one percent of sophomores passed all five portions of the Ohio Graduation Test, and 75 percent of
juniors taking the test for a second time passed. Only five seniors will have to pass all five portions
of the test next year to graduate.
High school Principal Kevin O’Shea said he did not have any seniors this year not graduate from lack of
passing the OGT.
Also at the meeting, the board accepted the retirement of Cindy Johnson, elementary school counselor; and
hired Patricia Wittke as a speech pathologist for the kindergarten and preschool classes.
