Otsego plans Civil War day

GRAND RAPIDS – Otsego eighth-graders will be recreating the lives and battles of the Civil War Saturday

From 9 a.m. to 2p.m. on Sycamore Road, students will be "manning" six stations: camp life,
home/farm life, Underground Railroad, training camp/instruction, music/art and food.
Students will be reenacting and reading primary documents from that time period and includes information
from diaries of Civil War soldiers
The day will end with a battle reenactment at 1 p.m.
The Grand Rapids Historical Society is supplementing the event with a tent, food and horse/wagon rides to
help bring history to life for local students and anyone else interested in attending. Community members
of welcome and are invited to bring their own lawn chair.
The event is in conjunction with BGSU, Northwest State, adult area re-enactors, the Grand Rapids
Historical Society, Otsego teachers from all areas of study, as well as the Otsego Endowment Foundation.
